LETTER TO THE MOVEMENTS

Our comrades, the salt of the sea,

We salute you for all the times you show up, speak truth to power, and continue to hold your ground as violence is exercised on our bodies, lands, memories, and futures across Sudan and many other tricontinental territories.

There is no more pressing moment than now to strengthen our unity and bring our common goal of liberation to the forefront.

Across the world, people are protesting, organising, theorising, making art, documenting, donating, and creating alternatives. As ever, our struggles remain interconnected.

We cannot repeat the same slogans and taglines without liberatory praxis and collective political action. Otherwise, solidarity risks remaining trapped in empathy and losing its political essence.

When we take to the streets, let our calls reach across struggles — Sudan, Palestine, Congo, Syria, Venezuela, Lebanon, Tamil Eelam, Iran, Afghanistan, and beyond.

Our lived experiences are our proof. Let our solidarity be grounded in profound understanding, critical analysis, and a revolutionary love ethic.

Until we are all free.

“This war will not destroy Sudan. It might destroy some of the things we have accomplished, but it will not destroy the history of Sudan. In me, there’s still hope, and as long as we remain hopeful, although I don’t think Sudan will be free in my lifetime, a liberated Sudan and Africa is possible.”
